BORDERLANDS Housing Program

CareerFest connects graduating tech students to network and interview

for jobs in the Automotive Industry and learn from guests about succeeding professionally in the industry. Participants will receive a priceless experience and build long-term relationships for industry success.

Working alongside Young Life with the support of Southern Careers Institute “SCI”, we have selected a group of applicants to participate in the Borderlands Invitational that will participate in a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn and obtain auto mechanic certification.

 

The selected students will enter the SCI program, which includes educational and onsite training in the Automotive Industry. As part of the program, the students will receive tuition, required tools, housing, and continued mentorship from Young Life and the CarFest team.

Student Benefits

Tuition Paid

Applicants will have sponsored application fee + tuition paid at Southern Careers Institute

 

Assigned Employment

The SCI program secures interviews for onsite work training during couse of program. Work is paid.

 

Mechanic Tools

Applicants will be provided shop tools to use during the program

 

Housing

Applicants will be provided housing, rent only covered

Finance Course

Applicants will attend sessions on personal finance and budgeting by Dave Ramsey

 

CareerFest Participation

Applicants will be entered into CareerFest for an opportunity to advance in career

 

Young Life Network

Applicants will have a network of Young Life members in the region

 

Life Coaching Skills

YL to provide assistance with resumes, applications, interview preparation, etc.

We believe that where you start in life shouldn’t limit where you go. When someone has the ambition, and the opportunity to succeed, seemingly impossible dreams can become a reality. The Borderlands Invitational comprises several key components designed to break down the barriers to education and provide more individuals with the opportunities to unlock their potential.

WHY

Student Submission Requirements

  • Applicants must submit the following documents to be considered:

  • CareerFest Borderlands Invitational Application

  • Resume

  • Four (4) References submitted as follows:

  • Two (2) Written Letters of Recommendation

  • Two (2) Phone References (include name, connection to reference, email, phone)

  • Personality Test Results

  • Each student must complete the complimentary 16 Personalities short test and submit those results with this packet.

  • The test is available online at www.16personalities.com

  • The test will take 12-15 minutes to complete

  • At the completion of the test, there is an option to "e-mail test results", you will enter your email and then submit that report to us

  • Candidate Headshot - upload your headshot/photograph to be used in your candidate packet
